Apricot

"Let the tree of your life blossom into a sweet fruit like apricot."

Yellow and orange each carry their own meaning, yet together they share a single intention: to bring us joy.

Yellow-orange reminds us that there is light at the end of the tunnel. This colour combination encourages us to stay brave and to absorb life’s lessons with fresh enthusiasm. If we want to rise above difficult moments instead of feeling like victims, we need to draw out the positive and release what no longer serves us. That isn’t always easy and can, at times, feel impossible.

We are not expected to shut everything out and move on within a day. Yellow–orange reminds us that we are worth fighting for and that we deserve happiness just as much as anyone else. Finding our joy is a journey. And that’s where we’ll begin.

Think back to the past and choose three moments when you felt unconditional joy. Write them down in as much detail as you can and take note of how it feels to revisit them.

Choose one moment in the present that brings you unconditional joy. Describe it in detail and place it somewhere in your home where you’ll see and reread it regularly.

Now look to the future: what would give you unconditional joy? Write this down as well. What steps can you take today to move towards it?

Dark moments are part of life, and they can pull us into valleys that feel endless. With these writing exercises, I want to show that, even in the smallest ways, joy is hidden somewhere along our path, and it is ours to hold onto. We are worthy of at least one happy moment each day. Below are three practical ideas to help you surround yourself with the uplifting energy of this colour combination and bring a little brightness into your home.

Towels and napkins
Use yellow and orange towels in the kitchen, bathroom, or toilet. Add yellow and orange napkins to the dining table or any other space where you use them.

Flowers
On darker days, it can feel wonderful to bring yellow–orange flowers into your home. Think of marigolds, tagetes, daylilies, or sneezeweed.

Clothing
Clothing does more than cover us; it influences how we feel and how others see us. Wearing certain colours intentionally can encourage subtle shifts in behaviour. So next week, choose yellow-orange dresses, skirts, cardigans, underwear, leggings, blouses. Patterns are great too, as long as yellow–orange appears somewhere on your body.

Some days will still feel heavy. That’s normal. The purpose of yellow-orange is that, even in tougher moments, we can still think of or find something that sparks joy and with it, a smile to carry us through the day.
